PIKNOMETER

The pycnometer is a measurement device for measuring density of liquids or small bodies.
It consists of a bottle with a ground neck and punched fitting stopper.
The pycnometer has a calibrated volume at a given temperature.
If measured at different temperatures, it should be calibrated so that it is filled with liquid,
the thermal expansion which is known (eg water) and weighed to determine their mass.

When you subtract the weight of empty pycnometer and divided by the known density of the solution,
read from the tables, we can calculate the pycnometer volume at a given temperature.
Repeated measurements with a liquid, whose density we set,
so that again weighed pycnometer liquid divided by the measured volume of the pycnometer at a given temperature.

APPEARANCE

piknometer it consists of three parts:
1. close pikno
2. hole
3. measuring cup or tube

HOW TO USE IT

1. You just see how the volume of piknometernya. there is usually a volume of 25 ml and 50 ml.
2. piknometer you weigh when empty.
3. you enter the fluid to be measured its density in such piknomeer.
4. if its volume is just right, piknometernya closed.
5. ye weigh piknometer masses containing fluid.
6. you calculate the mass of fluid that is inserted by subtracting the mass of fluid with a mass pikno pikno contains empty.
7. after mass and volume data can be fluid, you live determines the value of rho / masssa type (p) the fluid with the equation:
rho (p) = m / V

remember  ---> ml = cm^3

so, p are g/cm^3
